FDA diamond action

The Fort Dale softball won their series with Lowndes Academy 2-1 last week. They defeated the Lady Rebels 9-6 at Lowndes and split with them at home. The Lady Eagles lost a tough nine-inning matchup in the first game of the double header 15-14 but rallied to win the second game 17-16. Senior Anna Claire Thomas was the winning pitcher in both victories. Notably at the plate, senior outfielder Brinkley Long had a grand slam homer in the 3rd inning at Lowndes. Pictured is Fort Dale freshman outfielder Bradleigh Hickman who slid in under the tag to tie up the score 9-9 and send the first game of the double header versus Lowndes to extra innings. Fort Dale baseball also topped Lowndes in their series 2-1 with a 12-4 win in Lowndesboro and a 6-3 win and 2-1 loss at home in the double header. Senior Morgan Heath and junior Trip Albert were both awarded wins for their complete games. Pictured is junior pitcher and third baseman Trip Albert. In addition to pitching a complete game in Eagles’ win at home, Albert hit a homerun at the top of the 4th in the win on the road. (Kathy Pickens | The Standard)
