John D. Murphy, Jr., 56, of Opelika, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

Born on Nov. 8, 1968, in Greenville, John graduated from Greenville High School in 1987. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Operations Management from Auburn University in 1991, and was employed at Remington Arms in LaGrange, Ga.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Susan Samford and John Darryl Murphy, Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Kim; daughter, Kailey Murphy; and son, Dalton Murphy, all of Opelika; sister and brother-in-law, Jean (Greg) Coker of Pelham; brother-in-law Eddie (Delana) Anderson of Greenville; nieces, Amanda (Chris) Morgan of Alabaster and Laikyn Anderson of Greenville; and nephews, Michael Coker of Pelham and Wyatt Anderson of Greenville.

The family received visitors on Wednesday, June 11, at Dunklin Funeral Home (812 W Commerce St. in Greenville) beginning at 10 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. graveside service at Magnolia Cemetery.
