SHIRLEY GIPSON

Aug. 1, 1935 – June 17, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved, Gran, Shirley Gipson, who left us on June 17, 2025, at the age of 89. Surrounded by her family in her final moments, she was a woman with immense love for Jesus Christ and we take comfort knowing that while she may be absent from the body, she is present with the Lord and reunited with her husband, the late Jack Gipson.

Shirley Lorraine Gipson was born on Aug. 1, 1935, and was a lifelong resident of Georgiana, and an active member of Eastside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; Allen Herring and Florence Sims Herring; her siblings, Ailene Riley, Dorothy Goodwin, Douglas Herring, Arnold Herring, Royce Herring, and Janice Herring; her grandson, Joseph Hitson; and her husband, Jack Gipson.

She is survived by her children, Lanell (Ronnie) Hilburn and Gary Gipson; grandchildren, Jarrod (Stephanie) Hitson, Jessica (Mickey) Jones, Hannan (Seth) Chase, Cody (Krystal) Gipson, Heather Taylor, Heath (Kristel) Hilburn, and Adrain (Ariel) Hilburn; great-grandchildren, Ashley (Aaron) Kimberly, Kaegun Jones, Lexie Jones, Amie (Jason) Forbus, Anna Nichols, Jackson Gipson, Barrett Hilburn, Piper Nichols, Canyon Hitson, Jasper Nichols, Rhylie Gipson, Austin Hayes, Parker Hayes, Anna Claire Hilburn, Rayne Hilburn, Daria Weaver, and Willow Hitson; great-great grandchild, River Kimberly; her siblings, Joyce Morris, Jean Sanford, and Hubert Herring; along with an abundance of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

A memorial service was held at Eastside Baptist Church on Thursday, June 19, with visitation from 1-2 p.m. Memorial service was a 2 p.m. Graveside service followed at Eastside Baptist Church located at 664 Oakwood Street, Georgiana.

Pallbearers were Jared Hitson, Cody Gipson, Kaegun Jones, Buck Gorum, Adrian Hilburn, Jesse Joyner, and Heath Hilburn.
