The Lady Eagles varsity softball team pushed their record past 0.500 with an exciting 15-14 win over Monroe Academy Volunteers in seven innings. Pitching duties were shared equally by senior Kinsley Shipp (pictured), junior Natalie Skipper, and freshman Claire Tetter.

Leaders at the plate included catcher Paisley Hunneycutt (3 for 4, 2B, 3B, and 2 RBI), first baseman Allie Newton (3 for 5, 2B, HR, and 4 RBI), and middle infielder Ella Ealum (2 for 4, HR, 1 RBI).

Fort Dale was down 10-14 headed into their last at-bat when Ealum started the rally with a solo homerun.

Hunneycutt then walked and scored on Newton’s homerun. Senior Ceil Gregory walked and Skipper got on base on an error.

Bradleigh HIckman’s single scored Gregory to tie it up 14-14, RG Hartley went to the plate with two outs and fouled off two before her game-ending line drive to left field scored Skipper.

The next at-home action on the Fort Dale baseball and softball diamonds will be on April 13 versus Lowndes.
