JAMES STANLEY EDGAR

Feb. 4, 1046 – April 3, 2026

James Stanley Edgar, known as “Sonny” for most of his life and “J” in later years, age 80, passed away on April 3, 2026. He was born on Feb. 4, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pa.

James was the son of the late James Fred Edgar and Stella Edgar. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Janice Swenlin. He is survived by his brother, Allen Edgar.

James was a devoted husband to his wife, Cameron Edgar, and a proud father to his three children: Christopher Edgar, Misty Johnson (James), and Johnathan Edgar (Alecia). He was also a loving grandfather to Brayden, Kaeden, Savannah, and Cole, all of whom he cherished deeply.

James honorably served his country after being drafted during the Vietnam era. He dedicated his career to the United States Air Force as a mechanic and achieved the respected rank of E-9 before retiring from the Air National Guard.

He spent most of his life in Alabama, where he built a life centered around family, hard work, and the outdoors. James had a passion for riding motorcycles and enjoyed spending time on boats, ATVs, and tractors. He was a family man who took great pride in his loved ones and the life he built with them. He was also cherished by many friends, who loved and respected him for his warmth, generosity, and humor.

A funeral service was held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Methodist Church in Letohatchee to honor and celebrate his life.

James will be remembered for his strength, dedication, and the love he had for his family and friends. His legacy will live on through all who knew and loved him.
