WAYNE EARL BROOKS

Wayne Earl Brooks, 84, of Greenville, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026.

Born in Lenox and raised in Repton, he remained deeply connected to these communities throughout his life.

Wayne was a proud graduate of Troy University and spent more than 40 years in the lumber industry where he earned the respect of colleagues and customers alike. Outside of his career, he served his community as a member of Kiwanis, the American Legion, Greenville Planning Commission, Sunday school teacher and Deacon of First Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, Texas Swing music and was an avid golfer.

Above all, Wayne cherished his family.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Jane (Smith); sister, Linda; his two children, Greg (Tammy) and Lori Neilson (Dent); and his five grandsons, who brought him immense pride and happiness.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Mildred.

Services will be held at First Baptist Church, Greenville, on May 2. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. with a celebration of life service to follow at 11 a.m. A private graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. at Ramah Primitive Baptist Church in Lenox.
