SGC joins Gov. Ivey for coloring contest awards
Sasanqua Garden Club joined Governor Kay Ivey at the Governor’s Mansion Wednesday to award the winners of the Governor’s 2026 Statewide Coloring Contest.
At the invitation of the Governor’s Office, several members of Sasanqua Garden Club served as judges earlier in the month for hundreds of entries by student artists statewide who created their artistic illustration of Alabama’s state flower, the Camellia.
Governor Kay Ivey and Sasanqua Garden Club recognized and announced the winners before a packed crowd of winners, parents, teachers, and friends at a ceremony and reception held at the Governor’s Mansion.

Governor Ivey applauded the ambitious efforts of Sasanqua Garden Club and the City of Greenville for their recent and ongoing restoration of Beeland Park Camellia Gardens.
On behalf of Sasanqua Garden Club, Linda Horn shared the Camellia Gardens success story as Phase One has been completed and Phase Two begins.
Student artists, parents, and teachers were encouraged to visit the historic camellia gardens as well as the state-of-the-art outdoor classroom and future Curiosity Center to be added in Camellia Gardens.
