Primary Election May 19

The following candidates will be listed on the primary ballots in the upcoming Tuesday, May 19, Primary Election.

The Democratic Party:

Governor: Will Boyd, Jamel J. Brown, Yolanda Rochelle Flowers, Doug Jones, Chad “Chig” Marting, and Nathan “Nate” Mathis.

Lieutenant Governor: Phillip Ensler and  Darryl D. Perryman.

United States Senator: Dakarai Larriet, Kyle Sweetser, Everett Wess, and Mark Wheeler II.

Public Service Commission Place No. 1: James O. Gordon, John Northrop, and Jeff Ramsey.

The Republican Party:

Governor: Ken McFeeters, “Alabama” Will Santivasci, Thomas Tubberville.

Lieutenant Governor: Wes Allen, Pat Bishop, George Childress, Rick Pate, Stewart Hill Tankersley, Nicole Jones Wadsworth, and John Wahl.

United States Senator: Seth Burton, Dale Shelton Deas, Jr., Jared Hudson, Steve Marshall, Barry Moore, Morgan Murphy, and Rodney Walker.

Attorney General: Pamela L. Casey, Jay Mitchell, and Katherine Robertson.

Secretary of State: Caroleen Dobson, Christopher Christian Horn, and Glenda S. Jackson.

State Treasurer: Young Boozer and Steve Lolley.

State Auditor: Derek Chen and Andrew Sorrell.

Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries: Corey Hill, Christina Woerner McInnis, and Jack Williams.

Public Service Commission Place No. 1: Matt Gentry and Jeremy H. Oden.

Public Service Commission Place No. 1: Priscilla Andrews, Chris Beeker, Brent Woodall, and Jim Zig Zeigler.

Butler County Sheriff: Kenneth Harden, David Scruggs, and Adam Smith.

There will also be two Proposed Amendments on the primary ballots.

Statewide Amendment 1: Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of Alabama of 2022, to provide that the following offenses shall be offenses for which a judge may deny bail: shooting or discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling or other occupied space in violation of Section 13A-11-61(b), Code of Alabama 1975; or any solicitation attempt, or conspiracy to commit murder. Proposed by Act 2025-227.

Statewide Amendment 2: Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of Alabama of 2022, to provide that the compensation of a district attorney may not be diminished during his or her term in office. Proposed by Act 2025-291.
