JOEL DEWEY CROCKER

In loving memory of Joel Dewey Crocker, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. He was known to his family as “Bud.” Dewey was thrilled to be a daddy and absolutely loved his children.
Born on Nov. 8, 1958, in Selma, to Joel Franklin and Emma Nell Davis Crocker. He grew up in Union Town, where he started with Winn Dixie as a teenager. He grew to be a trained meat cutter and market manager. He continued with Winn Dixie in Selma and Opelika. Afterwards, he moved to Pine Apple, to open his own store, Crocker Grocery, in Forest Home. He was a dedicated owner of the store for 18 years. Dewey spent the last nine years working for Houchen’s Food Group and was recently retired.
He was an avid sports fan with a passion for the University of Alabama and Birmingham Southern College. He took pride in his home and his yard.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Donna Marie Lamkin Crocker; two children, Davis Joel Crocker (Bailey) and Kathryn Marie Crocker Ennis (Brock); grandchildren, Colton Mitchell Crocker, Dawson Lee Ennis, and Amelia Elizabeth Crocker; sister, Louise Roberts; nephew, James Matthew Roberts (Hailey); father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Kitty Lamkin; brother-in-law, Bill Lamkin (Margaret); and dear friends.
The Dewey Crocker family received condolences at his residence on Saturday, June 6, from 2-4 p.m.
