Ruby Mae Price Womack was born in Greenville on July 17, 1924. She learned to play the piano at the age of nine and played for many churches including her own St. Paul Missionary Baptist, where she is still a valued member. She graduated from Baptist Hill Junior High in 1940 and from Lomax Hannon College High School in 1943. Womack finished her first degree at Alabama A&M and later earned her master’s degree from Alabama State University. She was an educator for over 40 years before retiring from Greenville Elementary. She married Clarence Womack in 1953, and they reared three sons Christopher Clarence Womack, Vincent Price Womack, and the late Anthony Terence Womack. Family and community have always been of utmost importance to her. Womack’s life has been rich in service, learning, travel, and music. (Photo submitted)
