WILLIE C. STINSON, JR.

Willie C. Stinson, Jr., 87, a resident of Georgiana, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2024. Funeral services were held on Friday, Aug. 23, beginning at 10 a.m. at Buckaloo Pentecostal Holiness Church with Reverend Tracy Stinson, Reverend Lloyd Hodge, and Rev. David Wall officiating. Burial followed in Shackleville Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home directing arrangements. The family received friends for visitation on Thursday, Aug. 22, from 5-7:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, Georgiana.

Willie is survived by his wife of 38 years, Wanda Stinson; children, Julie (Paul) Leverett, Tracy (Carmin) Stinson, April (Josh) McCombs, Troy (Shera) Stinson, and John (Jenny) Huett; grandchildren, David (Judy) Wall, Ethan Dungan, Justin (Shonna) Dungan, Camryn (Moe) Mosley, Alex (Charles) Coleman, Katelyn, Jacob, Trace, Tristen, Parker, Aubrey Stinson, Cheyenne (Cody) Kendrick, Jada (Cole) Godwin, Cody (Hailey), and Austin Huett; 17 great-grandchildren; and  several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Stinson was preceded in death by his Pa, Yancey Stinson; Ma, Beulah Stinson; parents, Willie Clomer (Coney) Stinson and Rozella Roberts Stinson; brother, Thomas Stinson; sisters, Margie Crawford, Abye Andrews Compton, Cleo Harrison, and Ethel Rigsby Giles; nephews, James Hillary Crawford, Gerald Andrews, and Tommy Rigsby; and great-grandchild, Daisy Faye Wall.

Pallbearers were David Wall, Justin Dungan, Ethan Dungan, Tristen Stinson, Trace Stinson, and Jacob Stinson.

Willie was known for his love of music and received his first guitar at age 12, although he could play anything with strings and especially loved playing the guitar and mandolin. He played and sang in many musical groups including Higher Reach, In His Ways, the Stinsons, The Friendship Trio, The Pilots Trio, and Gospel Chimes. He loved to pick and sing gospel Bluegrass music. Willie loved horses and said when he got to Heaven, he would finally get the horse he wanted!
