Municipal candidates qualify

With the qualifying dates for city elections having closed on June 24, the following candidates have qualified and will be on the voting ballots come Aug. 26.
For Greenville’s mayoral race, there are four candidates: Jae’Ques Brown, Kenneth Crumb, Dexter McLendon, and Craig Waller.
For Greenville’s city council: District 1, Bryan Reynolds is unopposed; District 2, Ed Sims is unopposed; District 3, James Daniels will run against incumbent Joseph West; District 4, Jimmy Lawson, Brandon Smith, Sr., and Arlene Steele will run for the seat vacated by Jae’Ques Brown who is running for mayor; District 5, Calvin Allen, Kenderius Boggan, and I.V. McKee will run.
For Georgiana’s mayor race, there are three candidates vying for the position as current Mayor Frank Betterton is not running.
They are Jerome Antone, Nina Bonner, and Donald Colley, Jr.
For Georgiana city council: District 1, Danny Black and Bernard Rudolph will run against incumbent Robbin McCombs; District 2, Willie Peterson will run against incumbent Larry Rudolph; District 3, incumbent Malvin Brewer will face Jackie Gandy; District 4, Ricardo Montgomery and Lillie Boggan will face incumbent Johnny Colvin; District 5, Robert Reeves is running against incumbent Darlene Buskey.
The McKenzie mayoral and councilmen seats are all running unopposed. They are: Mayor
Lester Odom, Jr.; council members Betty Brown, Gregory A. Lampley, Haleigh A. Taunton, Jacqueline D. Davison, and Lori A. Brown.
