Dancing thru the elements presented

Sonya’s Dance and Fitness presented their annual showcase to a capacity crowd at the historic Ritz Theater on June 6. Titled “Dancing Thru the Elements,” the production featured modern dance, creative movement, ballet, lyrical dance, pre-jazz, character dance, pre-ballet, baby tap, beginner tap, pre-liturgical dance, and contemporary dance. The elements of fire, wind, water, and earth were dramatically portrayed in the two acts through a beautiful and creative blend of sound, color, light, and motion. Miss Sonya’s 22-month-old grandson Gabriel made his dancing debut as a firefighter and later appeared with Miss Sonya, Cory Rice, Courtney Rice Price, and Tristan Rice in a family dance. Alumni dancers including Sydni Bowers Coker and Olivia Glenn Dible also graced the stage as part of this entertaining evening. (Kathy Pickens | The Standard)
