JOHN WAVERLY FRAZIER

John Waverly Frazier, 87, of Honoraville, passed away on Oct. 21, 2025, after a battle with cancer.
Johnny was born at home in Alexander City on Sept. 16, 1938. He was the son of Waverly and Margaret Graves Frazier. He graduated from Lowndes County High School in 1956 and attended Auburn University, followed by a career in business.
Johnny married Gloria Gregory Hartley on April 20, 2024, at Spring Creek Baptist Church in Honoraville. The two were reunited many years after having dated in high school.
Johnny had a natural interest in cars and animals, especially horses. His love of horses started early with the family horse, Sally. Sally could be seen all over the area as Johnny rode with friends. He continued riding for many years on trail rides across the southeast.
As a child, Johnny attended Bethel Baptist Church in Ft. Deposit with his family and accepted Christ as his Savior in his early years. While living in Spartanburg, S.C., he was active at Clifton First Baptist Church. After his marriage to Gloria, he joined her at Spring Creek Baptist Church.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; his oldest son, John Waverly Frazier Jr. (Jay); the mother of his children, Christine Giddens of Greenville; his wife for many years, Judy Asay Frazier; his brothers-in-law, Clayton Rainey and John Gregory; and his sisters-in-law, Betty Gregory and Patricia Gregory.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Gloria Gregory Hartley Frazier; his daughter, Janet Frazier; sons, Jeff (Denise) Frazier, Gregory (Nancy) Hartley, and Keith (Dusty) Hartley. Grandchildren include Stephanie (Fauzi) Hopkins, Jay Frazier, Davey Frazier, Lee (Genevieve) Frazier, Zac (Spencer) Cobb, Aspen Mixon, Cheyenne Mixon, Garrett (Anna) Hartley, and Taylor Hartley. He was blessed with five great-grandchildren, Hunter, Annabelle, Kirran, Elowen and Ewan, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Johnny was also blessed with three sisters, Sarah Glenn Allison, Thelma Rainey, and Marie (Joey) Kany, and a brother-in-law, Thomas Donald Gregory.
A memorial service was held on Monday, Oct. 27, at 11 a.m. at Spring Creek Baptist Church in Honoraville. Visitation began at 10 a.m., followed by the service at 11 a.m., officiated by Rev. John Ross Massey.
