New program supports rural hospitals
Beginning January 2026, Regional Medical Center of Alabama (RMCCA) will participate in the Alabama Rural Hospital Investment Program, a new initiative created by the Alabama Legislature to strengthen rural hospitals across the state.
This program allows individual, couples, and businesses to make contributions that directly support RMCCA and other rural hospitals and receive dollar-for dollar credit on their Alabama taxes.
Rural hospitals provide more than medical care. They provide care around the clock, create jobs, support local businesses, and sponsor community relations.
Here are a few important details:
Contributions may be made directly to RMCCA and must be reserved through the Alabama Department of Revenue’s ‘My Alabama Taxes’ system before they are made, starting Jan. 6, 2026.
Once reserved, donors have 30 days to complete their contribution, which will then be verified by the hospital.
Tax credit limits include up to $500,000 for corporations, $450,000 for pass through entities, $30,000 for married couples filing jointly, and $15,000 annually for individuals.
RMCCA CEO Patrick Trammell said in a press release, I invite you to join us in this effort and keep care close to home. Your contributions through the Rural Hospital Investment Program will make an immediate impact on the future of healthcare in our community.”
If you have questions or would like guidance on how to participate, contact Trammell at 334-383-2200 or email [email protected].
