J.B. CHANCE

J.B. Chance, 91, a resident of Greenville died at Crowne Health Care on Nov. 17. A graveside service was held on Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery with Minister Kenneth Mitchell officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Mr. Chance was preceded in death by his wives, Lea and Voncile Chance; parents, Jesse and Sara Boutwell Chance; sisters, Verla Woodruff and Ann Sides Powell ;   brothers, Jimmy, Milton and Auburn Chance. He is survived by his daughter, Joyce Chance Coburn of Evergreen; grandchildren, Tracie Coburn of Evergreen and Keith Kilgore of Houston, Texas; four great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a beloved niece, Debra Acreman of Greenville and many nieces, nephews and other family members. J.B. served in the U.S. Navy for two and a half years during World War II, where he served in the South Pacific Border Canal. He later served in the U.S. Army for seven years during the Korean War where he spent the majority of the time in England. J.B. served his country well during the times of war. He moved to Ill. to become a farmer before returning to Alabama. He was a member of Georgiana Church of God. He loved his church family as well as he loved to talk and joke with everyone he met.
