Kay McLain Johnson, 62, a resident of Brantley, was born on Oct. 20, 1958 and passed away peacefully on July 27, 2021 at her home. The funeral service was Friday, July 30, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Dunklin Funeral Home with Brother Ricky Crysell officiating and Dunklin Funeral Home directing. Burial followed at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was Thursday, July 29, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Dunklin Funeral Home.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her father, Willie J. McLain; step-father, John T. Spann and sister, Lisa Renae Moseley Johnson.

She is survived by her husband, David Johnson of Brantley; daughter, Ashley (Bruce) Hollyfield of Greenville; sons, John (Shauna) Cowles of Montgomery and Tobby (Tiffany Mitchell, fiancé) of Houma, La.; stepson, Terry Johnson of Greenville; mother, Betty Spann of Greenville; sister, Kristy Wood of Addison; brother, Paul McLain of Greenville; and thirteen grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other family members.

Pallbearers were Walter Johnson, Robert Johnson, Ricky Johnson, TJ Johnson, Ethan Johnson and Charlie Ray Sexton.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society.
