SARAH NADINE HEARTSILL BELL

Sarah Nadine Heartsill Bell, 90, passed away Monday, Oct. 17, 2022. She lived her entire life in Butler County, Alabama.
The family received friends for visitation on Tuesday, Oct. 25, beginning at 1 p.m. The funeral service followed at 2 p.m. Both were held at Bethel United Methodist Church, Bethel Church Road, with Pastor Rick Taylor officiating and Dunklin Funeral Home directing.
She is survived by her son, John Frank “Jay” Bell, Jr. of Butler County, Alabama. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Zach Bell (Kelly Lynn), Acadia Bell, and Jay Keleman Bell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Frank Bell, Sr. and grandson, Draye Keleman Bell.
Her parents were Nannie Flora Freeman Heartsill and James Abner John Heartsill. She was the fifth of 14 children. Of the 14, she is survived by one sister, Laurice Lucene Heartsill Goorley and one brother Henry Jackson Heartsill.
She was preceded in death by her parents and the following siblings: Kathleen Hardin, Imogene Ham, Zollie Renford Heartsill, James A. Heartsill, Jr., Corrine Perdue, Maxine Farnham, Christine Segars, Alice Faye Dantzler, Richard Ray Heartsill, Danice Costes, and Clifford Heartsill.
Pallbearers were David Hardin, Darrel Heartsill, James A. Heartsill, Jr., Ernie Perdue, Jr., Homer Ray Reeves, Jr., and Chad Heartsill. Honorary pallbearers were James Heartsill, Ren Heartsill, nephews and great nephews.
Nadine was an intelligent, hard-working person who put others first. Her many acts of kindness were appreciated by the community. Nadine was the rural mail carrier in Lowndes and Butler counties for 36 years. She was the pianist for Bethel United Methodist Church for 50 years.
Thank you to all her family and friends through the years who were there for her. A special thank you to the staff at Country Place Memory Care, Luverne Highway, Greenville, who were like family to her, especially Pat Wilson who went above and beyond to make Nadine’s four-year residency a pleasant one. All of you are greatly appreciated for the love that was shown to Nadine.
Flowers will be appreciated, as Nadine loved her flower gardens. Nadine always headed up the Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, which was dear to her. Donations to the Cemetery Fund may be sent Bethel Methodist Church, Terry Blackwell, Treasurer, 184 Heartsill Road, Fort Deposit, AL, 36032.
