CAROLYN KILLOUGH BLACK
March 26, 1946 – Feb. 13, 2023
On Monday, Feb. 13, Carolyn Killough Black, (Mimi) joined family and friends in heaven for a joyous celebration. What a wonderful reunion that must be?
Carolyn grew up in Foster’s Flat with her parents and six siblings. They had a large extended family with many aunts, uncles, and cousins (Killough, Ward, Duncan). She graduated from Greenville High School in 1964. She married Arnold Black on Nov. 6, 1964. After 34 years, she retired from Greenville Cash & Carry in 2013.
Carolyn had a green thumb and was an amazing cook. She will always be remembered for her signature divinity and rocky road candy. She loved her grandchildren “to the moon and back” and was loved by all.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Frazier Killough and Lena Grace, and her siblings, Shirley Banning of Hendersonville, Tenn., Kenny Killough of Greenville, Sue Boutwell of Alpharetta, Ga., and Ronnie Killough of Dothan.
She is survived by her husband, Arnold Black; daughters, Leigh Anne (Tom) Caulfield and Christi (Rob) Sasser of Montgomery; granddaughters, Caroline Caulfield, Peyton Caulfield, and Olivia Caulfield of Johns Creek, Ga.; grandson, Kirby Sasser of Tuscaloosa; and siblings, Wayne (Anne) Killough and Bonnie (Rufus) Poole.
A visitation for Carolyn was held Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Dunklin Funeral Home. A funeral service followed at 11 a.m. with Brother Randy Sexton and Brother Ronnie Boulware officiating with a family lunch immediately following at Antioch East Baptist Church.
