MYLAN LOUISE BURKETT

Jan. 31, 1932 – May 14, 2023

Mylan Stinson Burkett, age 91, of Georgiana, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, Mother’s Day, May 14, 2023. Visitation was held at Johnson’s Funeral Home, Georgiana, from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, May 15. Graveside services were held at Ervin’s Family Cemetery, Tuesday, May 16, at 10 a.m.

Mrs. Burkett was born in Butler County on Jan. 31, 1932 to Clark and Wilma Stinson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Burkett; son, Bobby Burkett; granddaughter, Chrystal Michelle Moseley; and brother, James Stinson.

Mrs. Burkett is survived by her sister, Marilyn Sims; daughter, Susan (Wayne) Lynch, Joy Moseley, and Jan (Roger) Pouncey; son, David (Sara) Burkett; and daughter-in-law Susan Bozeman Burkett. She was a grandmother to 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren. She was also an aunt to a host of nieces and nephews who appreciated her, as well.

Mrs. Burkett was a hard-working lady who always provided for her family. She had a love for the Lord and her family that never waivered. She loved reading the Bible, listening to Gospel music and going to Church. She was always pleasant and had a beautiful smile that would warm your heart and make your day.

She had a compassion for other people. This compassion was not only seen at home but it was seen publicly in her profession as a nurse. It takes a special person to be a good nurse and she was special. To us that loved her, she was never Mrs. Burkett. She was Mylan, Momma, Grandma or Aunt Mylan. She was a beautiful person with a sweet voice. On Mother’s Day 2023, she received the greatest gift she could get—peace.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.johnsongeorgiana.com for the Burkett family.
