Hey, Greenville!

Anyone driving through downtown Greenville early on weekday mornings will know Otis Thompson and Willie Griffin, who walk at least three miles together each day excluding weekends.
They have an unofficial fan club, because everyone who drives past honks and waves at them at their stopping point: in front of Trustmark Bank at the intersection of South Pine and East Commerce Streets.
Retired from Key Safety, Griffin says they both walk for their health, but he is quick to point out Thompson, who retired from Union Camp and International Paper, has been at it a lot longer.
When asked how long their morning walks have been part of their weekday routines, Thompson responded, “Years. About 30 years.”
Griffin said, “But, I haven’t been out here that long!” If Greenville ever needs a “welcome crew” to show off the friendliest people with the brightest smiles in town, these two gentlemen are the right people for the job!
