Well it’s official, the 5-5 blue and black Georgiana Panthers are headed to the first round of Alabama High School Association playoffs.

The Panthers are 5-2 in 1A Region 2 play and for this first round are headed west to Gilbertown to face the 7-3 Indians of Southern Choctaw that are 5-2 in 1A Region 1 play.

The Indians average 33 points offensively and have held their opponents to 12.5 points defensively in nine 1A games with two shutouts.

Their last regular season matchup was a loss to 3A Excel.

Georgiana averages 30 points offensively and holds their opponents to an average 33 points defensively with no shutouts.

Both teams lost to the Sweetwater Bulldogs which comparatively are an even offset.

The fact that this will be a home game for the Indians, and they’re three points better offensively than the Panthers and 20.5 points better defensively than Georgiana, the numbers say that Southern Choctaw is a 16 point favorite in this fracas.
