DANIEL LEON GARNER

Daniel Leon Garner, 92 years of age, a resident of Garland, and a member of Mt. Olive West Baptist Church, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025, in Birmingham. Leon was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. There was a family graveside service that began at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, at Mt. Olive West Baptist Church with Carey Jinright officiating.

Leon was born on the Sept. 28, 1933 in Garland, to the late Cecil Homer and Florence Elizabeth Anderson Garner. He graduated from McKenzie High School in 1953 and married Bonnye Sue Davis on the Jan. 24, 1953. Leon was a farmer, foreman for Union Camp, and worked alongside his son, Rickey Garner, at Production Automation until he retired in 1995. Leon was the caretaker of Mt. Olive West Baptist Church alongside his son, Dannie Garner, until his death.

Daniel Leon was known for his kindness, quiet humor, dedication to his family, and had a deep love for hunting. He will be remembered for doting on his only daughter, Dianna Sue Garner Reinhardt, and forever working alongside his sons, Dannie Frederick and Ricky Leon Garner.

Leon was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Bonnye Sue, and his brother, James Cecil Garner. Leon is survived by his daughter, Dianna (Mike) Reinhardt; his sons, Dannie (Cindy) Garner and  Rickey Garner; grandchildren, Christi (Andy) Nichols, Ashley (Jim) Hill, Brent (Angela) Reinhardt, Stacy (Carey) Jinright, Erin Garner, Adam Garner, Ryan (Kyle) Lee, and Mandy (Jason) Crowell; 23 great-grandchildren, Ellis, Andrew, Everett, Dakota, Aslynn, Kalynn, Jonah, Raelyn, Seth, Jacklyn, Wyatt, Haleigh, Sam, Madilyn, Ryker, Olivia (Lane) Jackson, Ada, Andi, Mason, James, Silas, and Collier; and two great-great-grandchildren, Daelyn, and Madalyn.
