VAN ALAN SIMS, SR.

Dec. 4, 1964 – Jan. 5, 2026

Mr. Van Alan Sims Sr., age 61, a resident of McKenzie, passed away on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, at Baptist South in Montgomery.

Van was preceded in death by his daughter, Jamie Lee Sims, and his parents, Thomas Leroy Sims and Rubye Hicks Sims.

He is survived by his loving wife, Christina Sims; sons, Van Sims, Jr., Joseph Thomas Sims, Jonathan Michael Timmons, and Patrick Allen Timmons; and grandchildren, Noah, Nathan, Jase, Peidon, Samara, and Max. Special thanks to his sister for her time and love, Debra Sims Beavers.

Van was an officer for 30 years, earning awards for his help, including those from Mothers Against Drunk Driving, as well as numerous other recognitions. He also received the Officer of the Year award and achieved an 8th Degree Black Belt. Additionally, he delivered a baby on the Pensacola Bridge. He loved Jesus, preached the word, and loved taking walks at night to listen to the animals.
