HELEN JUNE SKIPPER WHITTLE
July 18, 1939 – June 10, 2026
Helen June Skipper Whittle, born July 18, 1939, passed away peacefully June 10, 2026 with her loving brother, Richard, Joyce Skipper, and other family members by her side.
June grew up in Georgiana. She moved to Tennessee where she spent a portion of her life. She was married to Burl McMillan and had two children, a son, Carey McMillan (Polly) of Chattanooga, Tn., and daughter, Elaine McMillan Howell (Tony) of Nashville.
June moved back to Georgiana in 1977 where she married Gene Whittle. She worked at Whitney Bank (First National Bank), helping customers any way she could where she eventually retired. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Georgiana. An avid supporter of the Hank Williams Festival and Museum she greeted and met people as a representative of the family as she was a distant cousin of Hank.
June was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie Ray “Bud” and Grace Booker Skipper; husband, Gene Whittle; sister, Betty Jane Whittle; sister, Kathleen S. Dunn (Lee); and brother, Donnie Skipper.
June is survived by her son, Carey McMillan (Polly); daughter, Elaine McMillan Howell (Tony); brother, Richard A Skipper (Joyce); sister, Mary Anne Lynn; grandchildren, Michael Carey McMillan and Jennifer McMillan; great grandchildren, Eliana June, Sammy Elijah and Michael Alexander; and numerous nieces and nephews and special friends that are like family. Last but not least one very special Gift, “LJ”, Everleigh Grace Harris.
A memorial will be held at The First Baptist Church in Georgiana on Friday, June 19, at 1 p.m.
