Go West, young woman

On May 16, Greenville local Emily Harrell embarked on a new adventure to head out West. She will be working as a server at the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone National Park until mid-October.
Harrell said of her decision, “I’ve always wanted to do something adventurous and go exploring.”
Harrell is the daughter of Dustin and Randi Harrell and Mark and Tonya Jarman. She is a 2022 graduate of Greenville High School and a 2024 graduate of Lurleen B. Wallace Community College.
Harrell said she was unsure of the next step in her career path, enjoyed the support of her family to try something new, and had help from her friend Brandy Parker in formulating a plan and securing a job.
Her experiences working with people at Cracker Barrel and Whitaker Drugs, her familiarity with teamwork as a trumpet player with the GHS Band, and her outgoing, winning personality will no doubt serve her well in her new environment.
Harrell says that she battled with some homesickness early on and was pleased when it stopped snowing.
She has since finished her training period, is hard at work, has made new friends, and has seen her first bear.
She gets a few reminders of home via guests from Wetumpka and Mobile and from other Alabamians on staff.
Harrell says that Jeremiah 29:11 is her comfort and inspiration. “It reminds me that I’m in God’s hands,” said Harrell. “Whatever is meant to happen will happen, and He won’t put me through anything He knows I can’t handle.”

Emily, We are so proud of you.
