McKenzie remains undefeated

The McKenzie Tigers (6-0) hosted the Pleasant Home Eagles (2-4) Friday night for region play.

The Eagles came with a strong push to dominate the field but the Tigers controlled the game, winning 52-13 and remaining undefeated.

McKenzie kicked off to Pleasant Home to begin play. The Eagles marched down field quickly to show as a threat to the Tiger defense.

McKenzie adjusted with an interception by Tiger Malik Poindexter, bringing it all the way back to the 43-yard line.

Tiger Jolon Davis grabbed a toss from the air and completed the first Tiger touchdown of the evening early in the first quarter.

Pleasant Home made a hard push down field to regain momentum keeping the ball on the ground.

Despite the strong show from the Eagles offense, the Tiger defense pushed back stronger and dominated the leader board 22-0 at the end of the first half.

Pleasant Home was able to score twice in the second half but the Tiger offense was just too much for the Eagle defense and McKenzie claimed victory.

Tiger Ayden Wilsey completed the evening with 208 total rushing yards on 19 attempts.

Tiger Quay Jackson finished with 107 total rushing yards and 110 total passing yards.

Tiger Malachi Tolbert achieved 43 total receiving yards and one interception.

In all, McKenzie rushed for 338 yards, 122 passing yards, and 460 offensive yards against the Eagles.

The Tigers will travel to face the Kinston Bulldogs this Friday with a 7 p.m. kick-off.
