Hospital and Chamber partner to promote investment program

Regional Medical Center of Central Alabama (RMCCA) and the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce (GACOC) have announced a joint effort to raise awareness of the new Alabama Rural Hospital Investment Program

It is a state initiative designed to strengthen and sustain rural healthcare systems through community investment.

The program, established under the “Rural Hospital Investment Act of 2025” (HB86), provides state income tax credits for donations made to eligible rural hospitals.

The initiative aims to ensure the long-term viability of healthcare services in rural areas by encouraging individuals and businesses to contribute financially to their local hospitals.

Available for tax years 2026 through 2028, the program allows donors to make a meaningful impact on the future of healthcare in their communities—while also receiving a financial benefit.

“This program is a tremendous opportunity for our community to directly support local healthcare,” said Patrick Trammell, CEO of Regional Medical Center of Central Alabama. “Every dollar donated helps us continue providing essential medical care, upgrading equipment, and improving facilities to better serve our patients close to home. The fact that participants can receive a tax credit makes it a win-win for both the hospital and our supporters.”

The GACOC is partnering with RMCCA to help educate businesses, organizations, and individuals about how they can participate.

Through informational sessions, direct outreach, and local promotions, the GACOC will play an active role in connecting potential donors with program resources.

“We’re proud to help shine a light on this opportunity,” said Tracy Salter, Executive Director of the GACOC.

She added, “Supporting our hospital strengthens not just healthcare access, but our workforce, our economy, and our overall quality of life. This is a chance for local residents and business owners to invest in something that truly benefits us all.”
