FDA varsity boys and girls

The Lady Eagles beat Bessemer Academy Friday, Jan. 27, 67-523 Ella Ealum had 17 points and five steals, Natalie Skipper had 12 points and seven steals. Against Monroe Academy, FDA won 41-30. Skipper had 17 points, Preslie Rutland had 11, and Sarah Catherine Skipper had 10 rebounds.

They are 13-2 overall and 3-1 in area play. They finished second in the Area and advance to the Elite Eight held in Montgomery at Garrett Coliseum Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 12 p.m.

The boys lost against Bessemer 44-43. Harrison Scott had 18 points and seven rebounds. Matthew Carter added eight points and nine rebounds.

FDA bested Monroe 56-21. Branson Alford had 15 points, Carter and Scott had eight points each.

They are 7-7 overall and 2-4 in Area play.

They took on Springwood at Springwood Saturday. The winner will advance to the Elite Eight to play Snook Academy at Garrett Coliseum Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 4:40 p.m.

 

McKenzie varsity boys and girls

The McKenzie girls recently play Pike Liberal Arts Academy and won 42-40 and then lost to Highland Home 55-14. They finished 4-17 overall and 2-5 in Area play. They began competition in the Area Tournament this past Thursday.

The boys beat Pike 42-40. Quay Jackson had 19 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. Devin Covan had 14 points 10 rebounds and four assists. Nathan Huggins had 10 points.

Against Highland Home, McKenzie won 66-47. Jackson had 25 points and nine rebounds. Conan had 13 points and 17 rebounds, Huggins added 10 points, and Eli Blackmon had 12 rebounds.

The Tiger are 17-6 overall and 7-1 in Area play. They will face Georgian Feb. 9 in the Area Tournament at Brantley.

 

Greenville varsity boys

The Greenville boys beat JAG Tuesday, Feb. 3, 76-73. Eriyon Roper had 27 points while Jaylen Elliot added 15.

Greenville is now 19-6. They played Andalusia this past Friday.
