Britt gets $700K for RSCC
Senator Katie Britt has secured $700,000 in federal funding for Reid State Community College to support the purchase of equipment that will strengthen workforce training programs and expand opportunities for students preparing for careers in Alabama’s rural workforce.
The funding comes through a Fiscal Year 2026 congressional appropriation requested by the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) and approved earlier this month in the Fiscal Year 2026 appropriation bill for the U.S. Department of Education.
“Alabama’s community colleges are essential to developing the skilled workforce our state depends on, and this funding will help ensure Reid State students have access to modern equipment and training that prepares them for good-paying jobs and strengthens our rural workforce,” stated Sen. Britt.
Officials at Reid State say the investment will enhance hands-on learning opportunities and ensure students are training with equipment that reflects the needs of today’s industries.
“Our college continues to break records in growth and opportunities, and we are grateful to
Senator Britt for her continued support of workforce development in rural Alabama,” said Dr. Coretta Boykin, President of Reid State. “This funding keeps our students competitive for in-demand careers and our stakeholders invested in the realization that Reid State is integral to Alabama’s workforce training.”
