John Taylor recognized for volunteer service
John Taylor has been awarded the Bronze Star through the Alabama Master Gardener Association’s Reach for the Stars Program, a statewide volunteer recognition initiative established to honor Master Gardeners for their service and dedication to community education.
The Reach for the Stars Program, approved by the State Master Gardener Board of Directors in 1999, recognizes individuals who support the Alabama Cooperative Extension System through volunteer efforts that promote gardening knowledge and community improvement. The program also encourages the accurate reporting of volunteer hours, which helps demonstrate the value and impact of Extension programs across the state.
Taylor earned the Bronze Star designation by contributing 194 volunteer hours in 2025. The Bronze Star is awarded to Master Gardeners who complete between 100 and 299 hours of service within the calendar year.
As Master Gardeners accumulate additional hours, they may qualify for higher levels of recognition, including Silver and Gold Star awards and advanced badges.
Taylor’s achievement reflects a strong commitment to service, education, and the continued growth of gardening initiatives in the community.
