This Friday, August 4 Georgiana will host the 14th Annual Back to School Bash at the Hank Williams Museum Park starting at 6 p.m.
Allen Stephenson, President of the Butler County Ministerial Association and Pastor at 1st Baptist Church in Georgiana, indicated the event has been successful over the years and this year should be no different.
“There will be free food, great speakers, and awesome music,” said Stephenson. “We have had as many as 500-800 students attend with football team players and cheerleaders from Butler County schools enjoying the event.
“We will have counselors and encouragers present to talk with the students. Brother Robert Shuford of Butler Chapel AME Zion Church is one of the guest speakers. Mitchell Dean, East Alabama representative with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be our other speaker.”
Dean was appointed as East Alabama’s area director and has served the organization’s high school and junior high ministries since 2010.
“The band Zone 4:12 from Southside Baptist Church will provide the music for the evening,” said Stephenson. “We invite all students and student athletes ages 11 and up to come out and enjoy. It is as awesome event and we have had as many as 200 people come down during the invitation.
“They come with open hearts and just want someone to care for them. “We hope to send the kids home strong in their faith and impress upon them of doing the right things.” added Stephenson.
