Greenville participates in Operation Green Light for Veterans
The City of Greenville is participating in a nationwide initiative, Operation Green Light for Veterans, led by the National Association of Counties and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers.
This involves illuminating buildings green in honor of local veterans. Greenville City Hall, a historic landmark, will shine bright in green November 7 through November 11, symbolizing the community’s commitment to veterans and their families.
Mayor Dexter McLendon expressed pride in joining the campaign, highlighting the city’s commitment to supporting veterans transitioning to civilian life. “Veterans Day is a reminder of the profound debt of gratitude we owe to those who have served in our country’s defense.
The initiative aims to raise awareness about veterans’ challenges and promote resources. Residents, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to participate by replacing a single light bulb with a green one, symbolizing support. “By shining a green light, businesses, governmental entities, and our residents will let veterans know that they are appreciated and supported.”
